Prevent Mild Dehydration

While playing golf during the summer months, most people may not even realize that they are in a mild state of dehydration.  Some of the effects of dehydration include loss of concentration, fatigue and muscle tightness. These factors can significantly hinder your ability to perform and play your best golf.

Your body needs 2 and half to 3 quarts of water a day to maintain normal functions. If you play golf in 90 degree plus temperatures your daily requirements also go up bringing your daily requirement closer to 4 and half quarts a day!

It's probably a good idea to drink extra water 24 hours before a round of golf to ensure your body starts in a hydrated state.  On the day that you play, drink at least 8 ounces of water before you tee off and then 4 ounces every half hour during the round followed by another 8 ounces when you finish your round.

So, the next time you play and you notice that you always seem to fall apart during the last few holes maybe you don't need a new swing just a drink of water!
