Ready to Hit a Driver Yet?

Most people have a driver in their bag that they use even though they get very inconsistent or outright bad results from it. To determine if you should be using a driver in your game keep track of the number of fairways you hit over the next 3 rounds.

If you can drive the ball longer than 200 yards and hit over 30% of the fairways then you are ready to use a driver off the tee.  However, if you're not driving the ball over 200 yards and not hitting 1 in 3 fairways consistently then you should seriously consider changing to a shorter length driver (the average length of a driver is 43-45 inches long). But, the easiest (cheapest) cure would be to use another club that you probably already have in your bag; the Strong #3 fairway wood or #3 fairway wood off the tee.

Keep track of your stats using the shorter driver or #3 wood now, hopefully, you will find yourself hitting more fairways, have better control and distance than you would using a driver.

Pre-formed training grips can be used to help you feel and become more accustomed to the correct grip.  If you have an old club lying around have an LPGA or PGA professional remove the old grip and attach this training grip to the club so you can practice with it.  The white "V" marks are there to remind you where your thumb and forefinger on both your right and left hand are placed on the grip.  They should fit snugly into the webbing between your thumb and forefinger.
