Bunkers

Throwing a Ball and Money Out

A greenside bunker shot is the most unique shot in golf because it is the only shot where we literally do not want to hit the ball. Instead we want sand to push the ball out and onto the green.  To be successful out of greenside bunkers you must try to throw or skim a layer of sand, not the ball, out onto the green.  But how much sand should you try to throw out of the bunker? You're going to try to toss out at least a dollar's worth of sand out of the bunker.

Practice by placing a dollar bill (real or fake) in the sand and covering it with a think layer of sand.  Place the ball on the President's head and make a swing trying to enter the sand on the back edge of the bill and skim under the bill.
